Background
:::::[ Iloilo City's rapid economic growth has been accompanied by serious environmental side effects which in many cases places a risky future for the city. With the increasing population growth rates, come the pressures of sewage, sediments, garbage and industrial effluents. Political structures and bureaucratic complexities strain the local environmental management processes.
:::::[ A number of programs has been implemented by the city government, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, international development agencies and non-government organizations to arrest environmental degradation. The city has also organized a task force on solid waste management to address the special concern of solid waste. Ordinances on anti-littering and air pollution prevention have been legislated. The inadequacies in theplanning and implementation of these programs and projects lay ahigh priority in planning strategically these initiatives and
